Brand spanking news UFC fighter Jennifer Gonzalez is already done with the promotion before her Octagon run even started.

MMAFighting was the first to report that Gonzalez (13-5) — the first Chilean talent the organization has ever signed — will not be making her promotional debut as planned on February 26. The MMA veteran has actually been released by the organization, however, no specific reason is known for why “Jefa” was dropped from the roster a week before she was set to make a bit of history for South American MMA.

The Super Fight League, Combate Global, and Ultimate Warrior Challenge veteran was set to battle another recent UFC addition in Josiane Nunes on next week’s card. The Brazilian made a successful Octagon debut in July, beating Bea Malecki by first-round technical knockout.

The 35-year-old Gonzalez seemed like a perfect addition to the UFC flyweight division. The 18-fight veteran has traveled the world plying her trade and has built a solid reputation as a talent with high-level fight finishing abilities.

All 13 of her wins inside the cage were finishes, with 10 by submission and three by knockout.

UFC Vegas 49 takes place next Saturday from inside the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card is headlined by a revised main event, as Octagon veteran Bobby Green has jumped for an injured Beniel Dariush to face surging lightweight wrestling machine Islam Makhachev.
