Anthony Pettis reveals he broke both his hands in second loss to Stevie Ray

Friday was not Anthony Pettis‘ night.

After losing a decisive decision to Stevie Ray in their rematch, the former UFC champion said he also suffered two broken hands. The loss, which eliminated him from the PFL Finals, was his second straight loss, his last coming by way of first-round submission to none other than Ray.

Throughout the week, the spotlight was on Pettis who made several appearances for the promotion including ringing the bell at the NYSE and speaking to youth at a teen center in Brooklyn. But it was Ray who turned out to be the star that night.

“The only thing I was surprised in was the fact that he never tapped to the north-south choke,” Ray told reporters in his post-fight scrum “I felt it was so tight. … I was sure that he was gonna go to sleep. I squeezed; I think I gassed myself out a little bit.”

Ray also said he believes Pettis should start thinking about another line of work.

“He has enough money,” he laughed.
