Makhachev returns to the Octagon after defeating then-welterweight titleholder Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322 last year.<\/p>\n<p>Makhachev enters UFC 330 as the UFC\u2019s top pound-for-pound fighter. After Ilia Topuria\u2019s recent loss to Justin Gaethje, Makhachev has the chance to expand his lead over the second-best pound-for-pound combatant when he returns to the cage.<\/p>\n<p>Makhachev, a top protege of UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov, is known for his elite wrestling. But his striking has also grown leaps and bounds in recent years, as evidenced in recent wins over Dustin Poirier and Alexander Volkanovski.<\/p>\n<p>As of this writing, UFC fighters aren\u2019t allowed to crossover into Dana White\u2019s Zuffa Boxing promotion, but Makhachev wants to become the first to buck the trend.<\/p>\n<h2>Islam Makhachev targets eventual Zuffa Boxing fight after \u2018good talks\u2019 with Turki Alalshikh<\/h2>\n<p>In a recent interview with <em>MMA Junkie<\/em>, Makhachev revealed that his recent attendance at a Zuffa Boxing event prompted a surprising fight offer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had good talks about a boxing match, in Zuffa Boxing with Turki Alalshikh,\u201d Makhachev said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s a secret or not, but he said \u2018When you\u2019re ready for boxing, just let me know, and we\u2019ll do something\u2019. Why not? Box with some other fighters, why not?Turki has asked me a few times, and I\u2019ve just told him to ask Dana.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m ready, any time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Makhachev isn\u2019t the only top UFC fighter to tease a potential move to the Zuffa Boxing arena.
