Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight prospect Steven Asplund<\/strong> returns to action against Brazil\u2019s Guilherme Pat<\/strong> on the UFC Vegas 120 \u201cPrelims\u201d this weekend (Sat., Aug. 8, 2026) inside Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n Asplund is currently a sizable favorite over Pat, sitting at -298, while the Brazilian comeback is +240. To Asplund, those numbers are a little wild, and he has already told his fans not to pay attention to them.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat the f\u2014k are we talking about, dude?\u201d Asplund told Full Send MMA. \u201cI\u2019m shocked. I\u2019m 1-1 \u2014 I don\u2019t know what they see, bro. This kid is 1-1, and he ain\u2019t no f\u2014king bitch. He\u2019s coming from the favelas of Brazil to put on for his family. Come on, man, this is f\u2014king MMA, and Heavyweight MMA at that. Anything can happen.\u201d<\/p>\n Asplund understands the danger and is not overlooking Pat, either.<\/p>\n \u201cGuilherme is dangerous; he frightens me,\u201d Asplund added. \u201cBut with that being said, I don\u2019t think he has the tools needed to finish me. If he does clip me, he must act quick because I\u2019m in the best f\u2014king shape I\u2019ve been in in a long time.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m ready to show up, I\u2019m hungry,\u201d Asplund continued. \u201cI know I get a ton of love for my story, but God damn it, stories don\u2019t win fights. I gotta win, so let\u2019s f\u2014king go show the world what I already know.\u201d<\/p>\n Asplund is coming off his first UFC loss, falling to Vitor Petrino<\/strong> in what could have been his chance to jump into the Heavyweight rankings. The defeat clearly stung, and Asplund does not want to feel that way again.<\/p>\n Because of that, he invested in himself and built a home gym to get into the best shape of his career.<\/p>\n \u201cThis time I\u2019ve invested in myself,\u201d Asplund told UFC.com this week. \u201cI bought a home gym \u2014 put a bunch of dumbbells in my garage, an Airdyne bike, a squat rack. I\u2019ve been doing two-a-days, man. I never want to feel that way again. These losses are like death to me.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI made an agreement to myself that I will ask myself if I could have done more before a fight again,\u201d Asplund concluded. \u201cThis fight, I know I couldn\u2019t have; I\u2019ve done everything I can.\u201d<\/p>\n
