Following a unanimous decision title fight loss to O\u2019Malley in their UFC 299 rematch, Vera has lost three consecutive fights and is out of the bantamweight Top 15 for the first time in years.<\/p>\n<p>Vera will look to right the ship when he faces Charles Jourdain at UFC 331 later this month. The card is headlined by a rematch between UFC flyweight champion Joshua Van and former titleholder Alexandre Pantoja.<\/p>\n<p>Vera\u2019s current skid is the longest of his career by a considerable margin, and the UFC fan favorite hasn\u2019t won consecutive fights since 2022. Dealing with unprecedented adversity, Vera\u2019s mental strength has been tested, as he recently admitted ahead of his return.<\/p>\n<h2>Marlon Vera opens up on \u2018depressing\u2019 losing skid ahead of UFC 331<\/h2>\n<p>In a recent appearance on <em>The Ariel Helwani Show<\/em>, Vera was asked about the mental toll his recent struggles have taken on him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty s\u2014\u2013. It\u2019s hard, man. It\u2019s depressing. It hits you where it matters the most. I don\u2019t even really know how to express it,\u201d Vera admitted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou put so much into it. You\u2019re trying so hard and you fail. Then you say, \u2018OK, let\u2019s get back on the horse. I\u2019m a tough person. I\u2019ve got to keep my chin high.\u2019 And then you fail again, and you fail again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou get to the point where it\u2019s like, \u2018OK, I\u2019m not ever going to succeed again. This is just not working for me.\u2019\u201d Vera continued. \u201cThen you go into yourself and you\u2019re like, \u2018What\u2019s wrong? What am I doing wrong?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If Vera is victorious at UFC 331, he could potentially return to the bantamweight Top 15.
