But there was something else worth noting about his appearance. Huang, dressed in his now-signature alligator leather jacket, was handed a foldable phone to answer it.<\/p>\n Once he got Trump on speaker, the conversation turned to AI safety, and the two seemed to agree that mounting fears about AI equate to what Trump called a \u201choax.\u201d Trump argued that the real winners of the AI panic are China and \u201cpolitical people,\u201d and that the technology is too big \u2014 \u201cbigger than the internet,\u201d he said \u2014 to slow down over. (\u201cDid you hear that? Thousands of people are clapping,\u201d said Huang to Trump during this same exchange.)<\/p>\n Whether Huang truly shares that same view or isn\u2019t in a position to say otherwise, we\u2019ll never know. Nvidia\u2019s business model depends largely on AI labs buying more chips, so downplaying existential risk is the only move if he cares about his company\u2019s share price.
