Ahead of BKB 60 – BKB Lands TV Azteca Deal, Bringing Bare-Knuckle Fights to Mexico and Latin America

BKB is getting more screen time south of the border. The bare-knuckle boxing promotion has signed a partnership with TV Azteca to bring its events to viewers across Mexico and Latin America, starting with BKB 60 in Newcastle, England, on Saturday, October 10.

Announced October 8, the agreement adds a television outlet just weeks after BKB staged its first event in Mexico. The deal puts BKB alongside a broadcaster with an established boxing audience. TV Azteca was founded in 1993, and its Box Azteca franchise has been showing fights since 2006. Its sports operation, Azteca Deportes, gives the promotion a route to viewers who already tune in for boxing.

This time, the gloves are staying off. TV Azteca operates Azteca Uno, Azteca 7, adn40 and a+, reaching audiences through more than 300 local stations in Mexico. It also owns Azteca Digital. The announcement confirms coverage across Mexico and Latin America, although it does not specify a country-by-country schedule, the agreement’s duration or its financial terms.

An exact TV Azteca airtime for Saturday’s event was not included. BKB CEO David Tetreault pointed to the region’s appetite for combat sports when explaining the move. “Mexico and Latin America are passionate combat sports markets with an incredible appetite for world-class fighting, and we’re excited to partner with TV Azteca to bring BKB to even more fans across the region,” he said.

Adrián Ortega, TV Azteca‘s general director of content, framed the agreement as an addition to the company’s existing fight coverage. “Combat sports have a long and important history on our platforms, and BKB represents an exciting new addition to that tradition,” he said.

The broadcaster’s first assignment is an English arena show rather than another Mexican event.

BKB 60 takes place this Saturday at Utilita Arena Newcastle, with Rolando “Dy Incredible” Dy defending the BKB Super Welterweight World Championship against Scott “The Mute” McHugh. The main card is scheduled for 7 p.m. BST, or 2 p.m. ET.

Joseph Diaz Jr. against Bryan Hyslop and Dec Spelman against Andrea Bicchi also appear on BKB’s current event listing. Separate broadcast outlets include VICE TV and Telemundo in the United States, plus talkSPORT in the UK and Ireland.

The television agreement follows BKB 59, held September 19 at Auditorio Municipal in Tijuana through the promotion’s partnership with Zanfer Boxing. That debut produced two Mexican champions: Julian Fernandez retained his super cruiserweight belt by knocking out Dan Podmore in round two, while Cecy Ulloa stopped Andy Nguyen after three rounds to win the vacant super flyweight championship.

BKB says its broadcasts and streams already reach more than 100 countries. The TV Azteca deal adds regional distribution to the live-event groundwork laid with Zanfer, giving the promotion a way to put its fighters in front of Mexican and Latin American audiences between visits to the region.

BKB and Azteca Deal
