Jorge Masvidal is questioning why the UFC brass isn\u2019t paying Sean Strickland more.<\/p>\n

Strickland is the reigning UFC middleweight champion, and while he is expected to put his gold at stake against Nassourdine Imavov at some point in the near future, there might be a holdup. Strickland has taken to social media to put the UFC brass on blast for not giving him the money he feels he deserves.<\/p>\n

The 185-pound king has gone as far as to say he\u2019s just about \u201cover\u201d the MMA business and would rather box Jake Paul for big money. Strickland has had his share of supporters amid his rant, and \u201cGamebred\u201d Masvidal is one of them. Speaking to Jake Noecker for Home of Fight, Masvidal admitted he doesn\u2019t understand why Strickland isn\u2019t getting what he wants.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt hurts me to hear that, truly,\u201d Masvidal said. \u201cGoodness, we\u2019re at a good place. We\u2019re getting $1.3 billion a year. Why can you not pay this guy? He\u2019s not maybe the biggest star in the company, but he\u2019s top three. Sean is talked about everywhere, and maybe there\u2019s somebody that gets a wider audience, but I don\u2019t think even those guys have the cultlike following that Sean has.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Masvidal is also peeved that a reigning UFC champion has to consider a spectacle fight against the likes of Paul to get the proper payout.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuper controversial guy. Super fun to watch. Happens to be the current world champion,\u201d Masvidal continued. \u201cWhy is he complaining about pay? I\u2019m always gonna be for the fighter\u2019s side, and pay these guys more, UFC. I don\u2019t wanna hear this guy complaining. It shouldn\u2019t even be an option for him to go box Jake f*cking Paul.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The issue of fighter pay has longed loomed within the MMA world. Some experts have criticized fighters for not being proactive enough in speaking out on pay, but Strickland is one of the more bigger names to lash out over the topic recently. Whether or not UFC and Strickland can come to an understanding will be something to keep your eyes on in the coming days and weeks.<\/p>\n
