Alexander Volkanovski is working hard to prepare for his featherweight title defense against Movsar Evloev next weekend at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, but afterwards the UFC legend plans to catch up on some R and R alongside former opponent, Islam Makhachev, in the Dagestan mountains.

Volkanovski, who is defying MMA logic by winning the title back and defending it at 38 years old, is easily one of the best fighters of the past decade. The Australian champion has only been fighting the best of the best and that includes two showdowns with Makhachev. Volkanovski lost both fights, but many believe he actually did enough in their first meeting at UFC 284 to earn the win and become a UFC double champion. That never came to fruition, but Volkanovski isn’t quite done with Makhachev.

In fact, Volkanovski plans on meeting up with the reigning UFC welterweight champion to do some hunting, cooking, and camping in the Dagestan mountains. This would be part of Volkanovski’s popular YouTube cooking show, “Cooking With Volk,” which has brought about some cool collaborations in the past. If Volkanovski is able to pull it off it would be one hell of a trip to Russia.

“I love the idea of Islam Makhachev, doing it with him,” said Volkanovski during a recent interview with TMZ Sports. “We’ve already even chatted about it. So I’m going to go to Dagestan, in the mountains, horseback hunting, hunting on horseback, catching whatever we catch and then cooking it, literally over a wood fire, camping out.

“This is something that we’ve already planned. We’ve already chatted about it. I’m telling you, it’s going to happen. We’re going to do it.”
