Brazil’s Denise Gomes extended her UFC win streak to five earlier tonight at UFC Shanghai by putting China’s Yan Xiaonan to sleep.
As the co-main event got underway, Gomes looked composed and calm, while Yan Xiaonan tried to dictate the pace and chop Gomes’ lead leg by landing nonstop leg kicks.
However, in the second half of the first round, “Dee” began to take control of the bout. She stunned her opponent with a heavy right hand, and later in the round, while trading in the center of the octagon, she hurt the former UFC title challenger with an elbow that dropped the 37-year-old. Gomes then finished Xiaonan with an uppercut followed by a right-and-left hook combination to score the biggest win of her UFC career.
