The Ocean BJJ Pro Championship returns to Cagliari, Sardinia on Saturday, September 19 for its 2026 Finale, bringing together the best athletes to emerge from five European Trials and a compact group of invited international names. The result is a one-night final designed around high-level no-gi grappling, aggressive rules and four championship belts.
The road to Sardinia ran through Milan, Warsaw, Paris, Barcelona and Rome. At every stop, athletes had to win their division to earn a place in the Finale. Those qualifiers now meet selected special guests arriving from ADCC, IBJJF, UWW and the professional no-gi circuit.

Special Guests to Watch
In the Men’s Openweight division, reigning Ocean champion Marcin Maciulewicz returns after winning the 2025 belt and competing at the 2026 ADCC World Championships. He is joined by Pawel Jaworski, the newly crowned 2026 ADCC World Champion at -88 kg and 2025 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion, plus WNO-tested American veteran Ian Butler. Jaworski leaves the Ocean Lightweight title vacant as he moves up to challenge for the Openweight crown.
The Men’s Lightweight division adds three distinct threats: Sebastian Patyk, 2026 UWW European Grappling champion at 84 kg; Tarik Hopstock, 2025 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion and creator of the Tarikoplata; and Julian Espinosa, 2026 Brasileiro No-Gi champion and 2025 No-Gi World silver medalist.
The Women’s Openweight field features Joslyn Molina, fresh from an ADCC World Championship bronze medal and now the youngest medalist in ADCC history; Denise Krahn, the reigning 2026 IBJJF European champion; and Injana Goodman, an ADCC European Trials winner who reached the 2026 World Championship quarterfinals. The Openweight title is vacant after 2025 champion Eleftheria Christodoulou announced her retirement from competition after winning the belt.
In Women’s Lightweight, Jasmine Rocha arrives as one of the freshest names in the entire event after winning the 2026 ADCC World Championship and submitting every opponent in her title run. Goodman will also compete in this division, giving her the chance to challenge for Ocean gold in both women’s brackets. The Lightweight title is also vacant, having been held in 2025 by Sarah Galvao.
An Attack-First Ruleset
Ocean’s scoring system is built to reward athletes who actively chase the finish. Submission attempts are the first priority; if they are tied, points for positions and actions are considered next, followed by penalties and, only if everything remains level, the judges’ decision. Mount, back control, knee-on-belly, takedowns, sweeps and guard passes are all worth one point.
Regular matches last seven minutes, while semifinals and finals run for ten minutes. The ruleset is deliberately permissive, allowing a wide range of techniques from BJJ, ADCC, wrestling, judo and sambo, including slams, suplexes, kani-basami, leg locks, neck cranks, twisters and compression attacks. Small-joint manipulation remains prohibited.
Four Divisions, Four Titles
The winners of Men’s Lightweight, Men’s Openweight, Women’s Lightweight and Women’s Openweight will each receive prize money and the Ocean Championship belt, together with the title of “The Most Dangerous Grappler on the Planet.” Additional performance bonuses reward the same philosophy that defines the event: submissions, throws and proactive grappling.

The Ocean Finale will take place at the Centro Congressi della Fiera Internazionale della Sardegna, Viale Diaz 221 – Piazza Marco Polo, Cagliari. The broadcast is expected to begin at approximately 6:00 PM local time on FloGrappling, with the Lightweight divisions opening the card before the Openweight brackets.
The international broadcast will be called by Robert Drysdale and Demian Maia, pairing two of the most respected technical voices in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling for a card built around constant attacking exchanges.
