Arman Tsarukyan thinks Ilia Topuria’s recent claim about Justin Gaethje is a bad look.
Topuria turned a few heads within the MMA community following comments about his UFC Freedom 250 main event against Gaethje. “El Matador” lost the UFC lightweight title after failing to get off his stool for the fifth round. The former two-division champion accused “The Highlight” of loading his gloves. Gaethje fired back by scolding Topuria for taking this long to come up with an excuse.
When asked about Topuria’s accusation in an interview with ESPN Deportes, Tsarukyan had some criticism for the Georgian-Spanish star (via MMAJunkie).

“Just excuses,” Tsarukyan said. “How the commission can let him wear different gloves? They stay in, and check in. Just excuses. You’ve got to take what really happened. You’ve got to start with what you did wrong, not finding excuses and talking about gloves.”
Topuria is hoping to get an immediate rematch with Gaethje, and the idea may not be far-fetched. Play-by-play commentator Jon Anik said he believes there have been discussions within the UFC brass on potentially booking part two. There has been much debate over whether or not that would be a good idea given how much damage Topuria took in his first encounter with Gaethje.
As for Tsarukyan, he has a pivotal lightweight clash set for Saturday. “Batman” will be sharing the Octagon with Mauricio Ruffy in the UFC 331 co-headliner. Tsarukyan and Ruffy both made weight, so their bout inside Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles has been made official. If Tsarukyan can pull off an impressive win, he might punch his ticket for a shot at the UFC lightweight title.
