The penultimate episode of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 arrives this week, with 38 UFC contracts already awarded through the first eight weeks of the show.
Season 10 will almost certainly eclipse seasons 6 and 8, where 43 and 42 contracts were awarded, respectively. It’s already surpassed the first four seasons of the show, and is just one contract shy of season five’s mark of 39 UFC contracts awarded.
Make of that what you will.
Week 9 sees the women’s bantamweight division back in the spotlight, a weight class in dire need of reinforcements. While Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes are expected to bring some excitement back when they finally face off next month, both are towards the tail end of their fighting careers, with Nunes returning from retirement to face the Olympic gold medalist.
It’s a legacy fight, and one or both could retire in the wake of it. Fresh blood is badly needed, and Alivia Bierley and Summer Onley will look to start working their way up on Tuesday.
