The lone heavyweight fight on the UFC Vegas 122 card on Saturday found Allen Frye Jr. facing off against RJ Harris at the Meta Apex.
Both men had fewer than ten fights in their professional MMA careers (Harris with six, Frye with seven), and both were making their sophomore trips to the octagon. Yet while Harris had won his UFC debut, Frye’s represented the lone blemish on his record.
Frye fired a spinning kick early, and the pair exchanged some serious power in the opening seconds of the fight. Harris landed a jab about 30 seconds in that seemed to stun Frye, putting him on notice. Harris mixed in outside leg kicks, and was catching Frye coming in. Harris then connected with a combination, with two or three punches connecting. Frye managed to land one in the chaos, and they reset at center. It was Frye’s turn to do damage next, as he connected several times, forcing Harris to retreat. Moments later, a foursome of right hands to the side of the jaw put Harris down! Frye was all over him after that, the ref waving it off moments later.

Harris, who had his hands low throughout the fight, will likely watch this one back with considerable regret. He falls to 6-1; Allen Frye Jr. improves to 7-1 with the KO victory. All of his wins have come by KO/TKO in the opening round.
Official Result: Allen Frye Jr. def. RJ Harris by KO (Punches), Round 1, 2:59
