Ilias Bulaid finds himself in the headlining spot opposite Erick Visconde, but it’s likely Aline Pereira that all eyes will be on during the tenth and final week of Dana White’s Contender Series.
The show takes place this Tuesday at the Meta Apex, with weigh-ins unfolding Monday morning in Las Vegas. All fighters successfully made weight for the season finale.
Bulaid and Visconde were supposed to face off back in September in an earlier installment of the show, however illness forced the Moroccan-born kickboxer off the card. Rather than let the fight go, it was shifted to the final card of the season.
Pereira, however, is the sister of UFC star Alex “Poatan” Pereira. The Brazilian is the current Karate Combat flyweight champ, though she’s just 3-2 in MMA. Pereira is coming off two straight wins, including one over Canada’s Jade Masson-Wong at the Rousey vs. Carano card on Netflix earlier this year, and fighting Smilla Sundell at bantamweight, a division badly in need of fresh blood.
Pereira is 36. Sundell, a former ONE strawweight Muay Thai champ, is just 21. She’s just 2-0 in MMA herself, adding another question mark to this one.
