Mixed Martial Arts pioneer Rob Emerson is fighting for everything in his upcoming Bare Knuckle 95 debut against Mike Medrano.
The Ultimate Fighter 5 star Rob Emerson will make his return to combat sports in one of fighting’s most intimidating venues.
Emerson, 45, will make his Bare Knuckle FC debut on Saturday at BKFC 95 against Mike Medrano. Five years after a first-round knockout against Charles Bennett in his bare-knuckle debut at Gamebred FC 2, Emerson will look to make a statement inside the ring.
Emerson has turned his rough upbringing and past troubles into one of MMA’s greatest success stories. Despite being past his physical prime, Emerson still fights for himself and the people he cares about.
As he prepares to fight at BKFC 95, Emerson has one goal in mind: weeding out the ‘fake tough guys’ in combat sports.
Rob Emerson ready to weed out the ‘phonies’ in latest bare-knuckle venture
During an appearance on the latest episode of BetOnline’s The Fight Guys, Emerson revealed why he still wants to fight at age 45.
“For me, it’s all about chasing glory. I want to chase glory while I have blood in my veins and breath in my lungs, that’s what it’s all about,” Emerson said.
“Bare-knuckle is for the dogs; it’s as raw as it gets, and it shows who doesn’t want to be in there. You see these guys on social media talking all this stuff on social media and want to be the guy, and they get hit once, and they go back to the true version of themselves. If you’re a phony, people are going to find out.
“There’s nothing phony about me; I’ve been in plenty of street fights, and I can fight with or without gloves,” Emerson continued. “I’ve broken a lot of faces with these knuckles, and the damage they can do…it’s your true talent to see if you’re ready to go fight.”
