While it started off as a rough night for Canadian fighters, it ended on a high note with Mike Malott and Jasmine Jasudavicius getting their hands raised in the main and co-main events. The card featured finishes in 12 of its 13 bouts, with Malott, Cristian Pérez and Mandel Nallo being standouts. With UFC Edmonton now in the books, let’s look at what’s next for the winners.
Mike Malott
With two main events, two finishes, and two performance of the night bonuses, 2026 has been good to Mike Malott. After downright falling apart in the final minute of round 3 against Neil Magny, in a fight he was in complete control of, the fanbase was rightfully down on Malott. Since then, he has gone undefeated and has now pushed his win streak to five, with a massive finish of Joaquin Buckley. At 34 years old and crammed title picture, it’s now or never for the Canadian and I suggest he asks the UFC for a high-ranking, known and relevant name. Someone like former-champion Jack Della Maddalena, who happens to be in bad need of an opponent outside the top5.
Malott’s next fight: Jack Della Maddalena
Jasmine Jasudavicius
When she saw her five-fight win streak brutally snapped by Manon Fiorot last October, it looked like, at 36 years of age, Jasmine Jasudavicius’ title hopes had come to an end. Fast forward a year and Jasmine has now won back-to-back fights and has just upset Erin Blanchfield via unanimous decision. With Valentina Shevchenko’s timeline for her comeback still unclear and the promotion going back to Canada in January, I think Jasudavicius just became the front runner for being Natalia Silva’s first challenge as champion.
Jasudavicius’ next fight: Natalia Silva
Cristian Pérez
Two months after earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series, Cristian Pérez made short work of veteran Kyle Nelson, knocking him out in only 27 seconds. Knowing he lost to Manoel Sousa on DWCS just over a year ago, it’s unclear what ceiling we can expect from Pérez, but for the time being, any lightweight will do for his second UFC bout. Someone like Charlie Campbell should do the trick.
Pérez’s next fight: Charlie Campbell
Marc-André Barriault
Marc-André Barriault came into this fight having lost five of his last six bouts and some thought he was fighting for his job. The French-Canadian upset Kyle Daukaus by finish and now the narrative shifts from MAB potentially being on thin ice, to realizing that he just earned his fourth consecutive bonus. That is now two Fight of the Night bonuses sandwiched between two performance ones. As far as I’m concerned, Barriault’s guarantee for action gives him a safe spot on the roster. He could face any middleweight and still bring it. Why not give him Gilbert Urbina, who was initially supposed to fight on this card?
Barriault’s next fight: Gilbert Urbina
Timmy Cuamba
Cuamba’s UFC run has been up-and-down, but at just 27, it’s clear he’s still figuring out how to piece his game together. Pulling off this nice second-round finish of prospect Louis Jourdain without a scratch on his face may just be the start of a good run. I think a matchup with Su Young You, who was also victorious against a Canadian prospect on this card, would make for an interesting fight.
Cuamba’s next fight: SuYoung You
Mandel Nallo
The man formerly known as ‘Rat Garbage’ has officially earned his first UFC victory, battering Nate Landwehr on route to a second-round TKO. At already 37, it’s clear Nallo is here for a good time, not a long time. The best use of Nallo is to just make sure he gets a dance partner who will oblige his fan-friendly style. I think Elves Brener fits that bill to a tee and would make a perfect fight to put on the upcoming January Canada card.
Nallo’s next fight: Elves Brener
