Brazil’s Priscila Cachoeira was 1-5 in her last six fights and badly in need of a win when she threw down with Nina Milosevic at UFC Vegas 124 on Saturday.
Milosevic had picked up a bonus in her promotional debut earlier in the year, when she stopped Hailey Cowan with a body shot.
The bantamweight affair kicked off with the pair going to the ground and Milosevic mounting the back. That allowed her to hunt a choke, with Cachoeira looking uncomfortable to say the least. The choke wasn’t there, but an opening was and Milsosevic landed numerous punches, though none were close to finishing blows. Still, Cachoeira had no answer and her body language was beyond poor, as she simply ate dozens of blows to the face. Minimal defense, but nothing heavy enough for the refer to step in.
Cachoeira had to contend with Milosevic controlling her wrists while in a sort of three-quarter mount that soon enough saw her move into half-guard. Cachoeira nearly gave up her back, and Milosevic briefly wrapped her arm around the neck. In the final minute the ground n’ pound got a little more spirited; Cachoeira punched back behind her once or twice, but her output the entirely round was scarcely noticeable.
Soon enough, Milosevic was back on top in round two. This time, she was dropping elbows and forearms from mount, and Cachoeira was flailing on her back. She rolled to her knees, but as in the opening frame, the Brazilian was barely defending. This time, the ground n’ pound was enough for the ref to step in and call it. Cachoeira protested, but wasn’t about to win that argument. A solid win for Nina Milosevic, her second stoppage in as many fights.
Official Result: Nina Milosevic def. Priscila Cachoeira by TKO (ground n’ pound), Round 3, 3:40
