When she steps into the cage this Saturday, it will have been over 15 months since the last time we saw Vanessa Demopoulos in the UFC. For some fighters, a layoff like that is due to needing time away for an injury or to hit up a side quest. That’s not the case for “Lil Monster”, who has been looking to get in there for some time.
“I’ve been training. I’ve been mindlessly training the entire time,” Demopoulos explained. “It has been way too long since I’ve been inside the octagon because I have been trying to fight the entirety of that time. I couldn’t be more excited to have this fight coming up.”
It wasn’t about having the wrong offers for fights or the timing being off, but rather not having offers at all. Despite that fact, Dempoulos kept her signature upbeat outlook through it all and made the best of that time.
“I wouldn’t say wrong offers. I would just say no offers is what it was,” she said. ” I really tried to just like keep my eyes on the prize and stay focused on MMA. I grew a lot of my boxing skills throughout that time and just kind of like changed things up, mixed it up a little bit, found better people to be around. My heart is just so full and so happy right now at this time.”
With all of that growth under her belt, she’s bringing out the big guns in her corner. While she’s keeping most of them close to the chest, she promises some big names.
“I definitely have Jasmine Rocha coming to help me out, so I couldn’t be more excited to have my girlfriends from the jiu-jitsu community,” she revealed. “I can honestly say that I’m surrounded by some of the best in the world at each of their fields. I don’t want to reveal too much information if I’m being completely honest, but I definitely have some amazing power players in my corner.”
