Alexander Volkanovski Says Mauricio Ruffy Needed “Few More Camps” Before UFC 331 Arman Tsarukyan Fight
Current and two-time UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has discussed why he believes Mauricio Ruffy lost to Arman Tsarukyan.
Last month at UFC 331, Tsarukyan sent Ruffy to the shadow realm in the final seconds of the opening round of their five-round lightweight clash.

Ruffy did a great job stuffing Tsarukyan’s takedowns and even bruised up the latter’s eye. However, he let his guard down in the clinch, allowing “Batman” to land a devastating elbow that knocked Ruffy unconscious and sent him crashing to the canvas.

Ruffy’s training partner Volkanovski believes the Brazilian could have benefited from a few more training camps before facing Tsarukyan. However, Ruffy was already picking things up quickly in camp, with his mechanics and understanding of the concepts becoming almost automatic. Alexander Volkanovski also revealed that he and Mauricio Ruffy believed the Brazilian could knock out Arman Tsarukyan in the second round at UFC 331. Ruffy was even telling himself the same thing during the bout, as per “The Great.
