Josh Hokit is puzzled by Bruce Buffer’s criticism of his antics both in an out of the octagon.
Hokit’s over-the-top personality has complimented his work as a prizefighter. “The Incredible Hok” has been able to garner some buzz for ruffling the feathers of Alex Pereira and even former lightweight and featherweight champion Ilia Topuria. Along the way, Hokit picked up big wins over Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis to earn a shot at Ciryl Gane’s undisputed UFC heavyweight title.
Not everyone is on board with Hokit’s antics. Buffer, the longtime voice of UFC, admitted he doesn’t care for Hokit’s gimmick and he criticized the top challenger for calling Michelle Obama a “man” during his UFC Freedom 250 post-fight speech.
Hokit fired back at Buffer on his X account, questioning why the veteran announcer wants prizefighters to be role models.
I talk trash in the Octagon, but guys on this roster have actual criminal records and rape charges. I have no criminal record, yet I’m not classy enough? 😂You realize we are in the gladiator business, right? Should men who try to kill other men, really be your role model? lol https://t.co/iWPnayxCBV

Some have been out on Hokit for trying too hard to create drama. Others give him credit for trying to shake things up in the UFC heavyweight division. If Hokit can pull off the upset over Gane, his stock would be at an all-time high.
Hokit’s title fight against Gane is scheduled to take place inside Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 14. The heavyweight championship clash will headline UFC 334. A win for Hokit would turn the heavyweight division upside down, but Gane is hoping to ride the momentum of his second-round TKO win over Alex Pereira back in June.
