UFC BJJ returned to the Meta APEX in Las Vegas on October 29, 2026, for UFC BJJ 13, an event featuring two vacant championship titles and a stacked lineup of elite submission grapplers. The event delivered nine matches, six submission finishes and two new champions. William Tackett headlined the card with an impressive first-round submission of Jacob Rodriguez to capture the vacant middleweight championship, while Jalen Fonacier secured the vacant bantamweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Kleber Barbosa.
Elsewhere on the card, Nicky Rodriguez returned to winning ways with a third-round submission, Ffion Davies continued her pursuit of another championship opportunity, and Jasmine Rocha made a statement with one of the fastest finishes of the evening. Before all of that; Tackett needed just 86 seconds to secure the victory, producing an impressive sequence that demonstrated his ability to capitalise on even the smallest positional openings. Rodriguez initially looked to impose his wrestling game, opening with an explosive double-leg takedown. However, Tackett immediately returned to his feet before Rodriguez could establish meaningful control.
Tackett then turned the tables, quickly taking Rodriguez’s back and securing a rear-naked choke. With the submission locked in, Rodriguez had little choice but to tap. The victory was particularly significant for the Tackett family. William joined his brother Andrew Tackett, the reigning UFC BJJ welterweight champion, as the first pair of siblings to simultaneously hold UFC BJJ championship titles. After previously falling short in his first middleweight title opportunity, Tackett made absolutely no mistake this time around.
The co-main event featured another vacant championship opportunity, with Jalen Fonacier taking on Kleber Barbosa for the UFC BJJ bantamweight title. Fonacier came into the contest looking to avenge a previous loss to Barbosa in gi competition, and he managed to get the job done after 15 minutes of competitive no-gi grappling. The match featured plenty of leg-lock exchanges, with Fonacier repeatedly attacking Barbosa’s lower body in search of a submission. Barbosa demonstrated excellent defensive awareness, escaping several dangerous positions and even threatening with leg attacks of his own.
Fonacier also managed to take Barbosa’s back during the opening round, establishing a body triangle and threatening a rear-naked choke. However, Barbosa remained composed and managed to survive. The second round saw further exchanges between the two competitors, with Fonacier coming close to securing a footlock before Barbosa escaped and worked his way into a dominant position. Neither competitor managed to find a finishing sequence during the final round, leaving the judges to determine the winner.
Fonacier ultimately secured the unanimous decision victory, becoming the new UFC BJJ bantamweight champion. It was an important milestone for the Filipino-American grappler, who added another major achievementtoan already impressive competitive résumé.
